AVI AND THE UPRISING-
A word says what a thousand pictures can't, and three chords can change the world for Avi and the Uprising. With a canvas ranging from the surreal to the satirical, their songwriting seeks to answer age old existential questions while prompting socio-political action right here, right now. Folksy 'sing along' melodies are backed by an electric blues driven machinery, atmospheric yet groovy.
Intimate tales of telepathy, reincarnation and faith find equal footage in their songwriting along with globally relevant socio political themes like political idealism & climate change as well as topical themes from an urban India in tumult like the repressive educational system, rampant corruption and homicide.
Musically, the band is firmly rooted in American folk, blues and 60's rock while integrating diverse influences like opera, Bollywood and stadium rock. Their Indianness is an organic reflection of the crazy melting pot of contemporary India while steering clear of the clichéd postcard of a sitar, tabla and snake charmer type...

The band is all set to release their much awaited debut album 'Eyes on the radio' by May 2012.
