Daithi Rua grew up in the midlands of Ireland (County Offaly) on the banks of Ireland's longest river the Shannon. Born into a family of Musicians and singers it wasn't long till he was hooked on music. He started out playing the local bars and clubs of Ireland as a teenager. Daithi has opened up for many big named acts like Toss the Feathers (in the 80's) and in later years Clannad, The Waterboys, The Hothouse Flowers and Kieran Goss and a host of others. He moved to Belgium in the year 2000 (the Heart of Europe) where he very quickly became involved in the vibrant folk/songwriter scene there touring all over Mainland Europe and Scandinavia. He now lives in Gent and continues to play festivals/clubs and all types of gigs in all types of countries. He has been guest guitarist with Belgium's top Folk/Rock outfits Urban Trad, Kadril and also Comas.
Daithi's songs have made it on to some important albums over the years. Artists include The Furey's and Davey Arthur, COMAS, Helen Flaherty and Randall Williams.
