FROM SWEENEYS BAR ON DAME STREET
PRESENTED BY JOANNA NELSON
Daniel Thomas was singing melodies before he could speak sentences. A self taught guitarist from Co. Louth, he began performing in school shows and busking on Dublin's Grafton Street as a teenager. From 1999-2001, Daniel lived in Dublin and performed original setlists and the odd cover tune in venues such as Eamon Doran's and The Ruby Sessions. Daniel also featured on Radio na Life and Brendan Hickey's Across The Verge show on Dublin South FM.
After a break of some years during which he taught English at secondary school, Daniel has recorded a debut album- Vandals in Eden, in the summer of 2011. The album was independently produced with many of the songs displaying the distinct acoustic quality that is central to Daniel's live performances.
A reviewer at 2UIBestow.com wrote: "(Vandals in Eden) is very much an independent release ... and when I take that into account it's amazing how good some of the tracks are like 'Ghosts of Our Estate' and the title track."
Newry Democrat entertainment guide writes- "(Vandals in Eden) is raw, open and honest..." "Daniel's voice...moves seamlessly between melodic singing and a wonderfully weathered call that's full of character..."
Daniel has been performing most recently at many of the singer-songwriter evenings in the capital- The Ivy Sessions, Zodaic Sesssions, Downstairs at Whelans and performances in The Spirit Store, Dundalk and Lavery's in Belfast.
He hopes to promote Vandals in Eden more widely this summer with additional gigs throughtout the country. Vandals in Eden is available to purchase at gigs and on Itunes.
Tune in again tomorrow!!
