If John Peel was still alive, he might be hard-pressed to guess the records of the Flemish Giant household. Like a blast from the recent past, FG evokes the sugar-fuzz guitars of the early 90's -- Mercury Rev, Flaming Lips, My Bloody Valentine, etc. But like Krautrock pioneers (Can, Faust, Neu!) you never quite know which direction they will take you. If early 90's Irish savants Rollerskate Skinny came together with Amon Duul II, it might sound something like Flemish Giant.

Noise pop, psych pop, call it what you will... Flemish Giant craft exquisite tunes and then proceed to put them through the proverbial experimental blender in much the same way that London squatters, The Homosexuals, did decades ago (or more recently, the Welsh kooks Gorky's Zygotic Mynci). Flemish Giant succeed in seeming threatening while still preserving a certain naiveté. They perpetuate a joyful anarchy which has captured Austin's fancy since the heady days of 13th Floor Elevators right through to Sixteen Deluxe. The band has most recently cut two songs with zeitgeist-capturing Austin producer Chris "Frenchie" Smith(...and you will know us by the Trail of Dead, Dandy Warhols, Built to Spill, Meat Puppets.)
