Macanta are a band who write and play music in both English and Gaelic. The songs are written by Dòl Eoin, a singer-songwriter from the Isle of Harris, in the most northwestern part of Scotland.

However, the music is shaped by more than just the influence of Gaelic. With a Shetlander, an Edinburgh cellist with Sri Lankan roots, a violist of Irish descent, and a Gaelic harpist from Skye, a unique sound is formed.
