Spuhtnik is a three piece skate punk band from the Sunshine Coast formed in late 2010 who have been described by tsunami magazine as a "straight-up punk rock band without the gimmicks". Since forming they have played many shows throughout the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane including Caloundra Music Festival, Raw Sounds Youth Festival, Basement 243 and have shared the stage with bands such as Dreamkillers, Skinwalkers, Quiet Hostility, The Mercy Beat, The Minor Elite. In July 2011 the band released their debut EP 'Beginners Luck', which was received well among critics with reviews such as "the kind of soundtrack you'd put on before a surf or skate to get you pumped up for a fun session, and they're definitely the type of band that you'd imagine at a party having the time of their lives, drinking beer and putting a stupid grin on everyone's faces" (The Point Sunshine Coast). 2012 has seen the band constantly bringing new songs to shows and producing a high energy, fast and loud live show. With one member of the band now living in Brisbane and the other two soon to follow, the band is keen to make a dent in the Brisbane live music scene!
